For my mini-presentation, I presented clips of a movie called "A Girl Like Her". The premise of the mini-presentation is to focus, discuss, and analyze the genre with the class, that are present in our chosen text. I chose to use a movie "A Girl Like Her" as my text because I thought that it used different genres to create one big overlapping genre which was very interesting. "A Girl Like Her" starts off as a documentary of the school where everything takes place. From there the other genres that are present in this movie (the overlapping main genre) are video diary entries, and spy camera footage. I chose this text because I thought that it was particularly interesting how the movie was presented in a documentary style and used all of the different types of footage to tell the story of one girl. For the class, I showed a trailer for the movie that showed some of the different genres, then I showed a clip of the movie ( 1:14:16 to about 1:19:59) because I felt as though this clip of the movie effectively showed how the movie used a genre inside of another genre that was being conveyed as one type of genre but was actually another type of genre.
This is a youtube link to the whole movie. For the presentation, as stated before, I showed the movie clip from about 1:14:16 to about 1:19:59.
This is the movie trailer that I showed that I felt was an accurate example of how the movie used multiple genres.
